With more than 30 years experience in the performing arts, Laureen’s work has ranged from acting to directing, to writing and teaching.
On stage, she has been in seen in Washington, DC and in Vancouver, BC in Equus (Constellation Theatre), The Piano Teacher (Rep Stage), John Patrick Shanley’s Beggars in the House of Plenty (Beaumont Stage), You Can’t Take It With You, and Shadowlands (Pacific Theatre), Itsazoo’s site-specific Debts, and more. She premiered DC playwright Kerric Harvey’s Palace of Weariness at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, reprised at Vancouver’s Fringe. Onscreen credits include Homeland, the feature film, Rain Down, and the Cannes Festival Short invitee, Tell Me, among others.
As a voice-over artist , Laureen’s work has been described as “wonderfully natural and professional.” Her versatility and facility with her material, makes her voice a rich and appealing listen. Her forte is narration, but she is equally comfortable with a wide-range of commercial spots and children’s literature.
Laureen earned her PhD with her doctoral studies/dissertation focused on the role of audience in performance at The George Washington University, where she also taught Theatre History, Women’s Studies, Sociology, as well as directed original screenplays for on-camera Advanced Scriptwriting Class, was the guest faculty artist for the Beginning Acting class, and the guest voice-over artist for GW’s Documentary Film Center. Laureen also directed the Arts & Society Bard on the Beach Lectures at the University of British Columbia.
